  • End of week one

I got on the scales with trepidation but was happy to find I've lost 4 and 1/2 pounds (the half is very important to a dieter!). It's been a good week, despite one or two lapses (including three weight watchers ice creams on Thursday- why is it I always seem to think low-fat means eat more?) and it's good to know I don't have to be perfect 100% of the time.
Of course weight los is always more in the first week so I will hope for 1-2 lbs this week. I'm going to try the more traditional points counting route this week.
I've decided to set myself a series of goals to keep myself on track. My first is to lose 7lbs, so with 2 and 1/2 lbs to go, I'm aiming to do that by 26th August.
I've also started running (with more walking than running this week), so I am going to aim to stick to a programme to build up to being able to run for half an hour. Yesterday I managed 20 minutes of running two mins, walking three minutes, which was hard but not too bad.
Today will be a bit of a challenge as we're going to Glastonbury Abbey Extravaganza, a concert where everyone takes the biggest picnics they can. I have planned what I'm taking, so hopefully I will stick to that and not be too tempted by the beer tent...

  • The beginning

I have just got back from honeymoon and, although the pictures show how happy I am, I look so huge...I think I've known for a while that I need to lose weight but these photos have really brought it home to me.
I weigh 14st 11lb- far, far too heavy for a 5ft2 girl. I've never been slim, apart from a brief time on Weight Watchers about four years ago when I got into a size 12. 18 months ago I was pretty happy with myself, about 2 1/2 stone lighter than I am now and before a really bad time in my life, so that's where I'd like to get to again.
Weight Watchers has worked once so I'm trying that again and have signed up online for three months. I've been following the Core plan for three days and so far have stuck to it well. I hope this blog will help keep me on track.
